Town receives 2.5 million Grant

2.5 Million Grant

The Owasco Town Board would like to thank U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, U.S. Senator Kristen Gillibrand and retired Congressman John Katko for delivering $2.5 million in congressionally directed spending for projects and programs. The earmark appropriation is part of the 2023 larger omnibus package. The grant will be used to separate several of the Towns combined sewer and storm water system. The $4 million project will protect the Owasco Lake watershed and reduce cost to Town residents by not having to pay for treatment cost of infiltration of storm water in sewer treatment.
The support from our elected leaders is essential for the Town to complete this project. Without such funding the Town would not be able to proceed. Supervisor Ed Wagner is excited to begin this capital project. “This is the first phase of a $50 million dollar project to separate all of the combined sewer system and replace the drinking water delivery system on the avenues”
